Do you believe you can work less and play more?
I grew up in a hard working household, and as a result I was taught at a young age that you should work hard. Work first, play later!
I don’t think I’m alone on this one. Most people I know have a philosophy that hard work is what yields positive results in life, and that play should be saved for after the heavy lifting is done. How about you?
Well, one thing I’ve been learning over the last few years is that this philosophy is a bit askew.
This is because while hard work does produce results, what produces even greater results is vibrational alignment.
When we are feeling good and enthusiastic about life, things pop into place quickly and easily. Traffic moves more quickly, appointments run on time and ideas flow easily.
When we feel poorly, things run amuck. We sit in traffic, our appointments get cancelled or pushed back and the ideas that come to us are marginal at best.
So when we are feeling poorly, hard work really only ends up being a waste of time. We spend more time dealing with hassles and fixing problems rather than truly making progress toward our goals.
We’ve all experienced this from time to time. For example, have you ever found yourself running yourself ragged over a something you’ve been working hard on? Have you ever found yourself putting in innumerable hours trying to accomplish something, but you just keep experiencing setback after setback?
Over the last few years I’ve found that things tend to go a little better for me when I work less and play more. Instead of putting my nose to the grindstone and powering through, I’ve found that taking a break to enjoy life can have much better results.
Why? Well, by playing a little more in life we raise our vibrations. We align more closely with that happy, playful energy that keeps things running smoothly. A little bit of play can give you a lot of traction when it comes to getting through the day.
Conversely, when we power through the pain we only drag ourselves further and further out of alignment. We get frustrated, disheartened and run down.
Now I’m not saying that hard work has no merit whatsoever. It is true that action does create results. Just do yourself a favor and save the work for after you’re feeling good, and if you’re not feeling good, give yourself permission to play a little before you get back to work.
Take frequent breaks, listen to good music, smile a little more and chat with people you love. Look up from your work a little more to tap into the vibrational alignment that will make your work a success.
XO, Andrea
