There is such a thing as social trauma, the trauma we share as a society from what our countries have done.

What have they done?

In the last century, one man at the helm of his country (Joseph Stalin) killed perhaps as many as 49 million of his own citizens. (1) He earned the title of the greatest mass murderer in history. Most died in his “purges,” but many died in the gulags.

And yet when Stalin, the scourge of his nation, died, people wept at his funeral.

Adolf Hitler led his people into a devastating war, tried to exterminate an ethnic group, and ended up bringing death and destruction, not simply to a nation or a continent, but to the world.

The Japanese nation practiced such brutalities in their war to take China that a historian who wrote about the Rape of Nanking finally took her life from the trauma of what she’d seen and heard. (2) As a former refugee adjudicator who listened to stories of rape, torture, and mass murder (Rwanda) and was secondarily traumatized, I can understand how that could result in suicide.

The victor in Europe, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, towards whose ranks fleeing German soldiers headed, has been accused of causing 500,000 of them to be encamped, detained and starved to death. (3)

America’s own government caused massive damage to New York City by engineering the fall of the World Trade Center and declared a “war on terrorism” when it itself was the only terrorist.

Britain’s own government caused a barge carrying a nuclear bomb to go up the Thames during the London Olympics, (4) but they could not set it off. I wonder why.

Numerous attempts were made to ferry nuclear bombs to the Middle East to be used against Iran to start World War III. All were unsuccessful. Hmmmm….

Arabs and Jews continue to offer the world a lesson in intransigence, belligerence, and non-forgiveness.

Men in many parts of the world continue to rape, enslave, and murder women, often with no legal sanctions being brought against them.

A whole economic facade has been erected with the sole purpose of bleeding off wealth from the many and giving it to the few.

One cannot fashion society in these ways without the hatred and malevolence behind them affecting everyone in some way, shape or form. It may be depression, mistrust, a lack of self-esteem, but living in such a world cannot but have an impact on most people.

We’ve eaten the other’s lunch. We’ve struck first to avoid being struck. We’ve shown them a lesson they’ll never forget.

These ways of thinking and being create the social trauma that we’re emerging from as we contemplate building Nova Earth. This trauma is the unwanted condition that we’re overcoming to trust each other at the global level.

Can we can trust each other enough to join together to build a new society? Have we all had enough of these socially-dysfunctional ways that we won’t any longer practice them on each other?

There’s no way that new leadership will arise through an educational process. That depends on people listening and the former management of this planet hasn’t been inclined to listen. It’ll occur by attrition. The old leaders will step aside and allow lightworker leaders to come to the fore and lead.

That isn’t me, folks. I’m a writer. I have no desire to lead in this manner. I like to write and that requires a certain lifestyle.

So it has to be you. I hope you’re out there honing your skills, clearing yourself of your core issues, finding the inner strength, vision, and courage.

Step up and step out. Don’t wait to be chosen. Don’t wait to get your commission from the President or anyone else. All of this that we’re engaged in has never been done before and we’re leaving the old behind. So there is no one but yourself to choose you.

Nova Earth is your creation.  Don’t look for a clear and well-marked path. You are clearing the brush as we speak, to create a path along which the rest of us will pass in numbers.
