The activities and hobbies we pursue for pleasure enrich our lives, reminding us that there is more to life than obligations and routine. Much of what we do each day is motivated by our survival needs—we work to sustain our bodies and nurture relationships to sustain our souls.
While hobbies may seem like an indulgence, they are in actuality a tool that enables us to build a more fulfilling existence. When we engage in pursuits that have little value beyond the joy they inspire, we broaden the boundaries of our experience and actively banish boredom.
