Have distractions in your life and the news prevented you from moving forward with your higher purpose as quickly as possible?

If you live in the U.S. or have kept up with American news and politics you know we’re in a presidential election year and the two candidates left in the running are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Well, on Monday night TV I caught the second half of a documentary on Donald Trump that my housemate was watching. I learned how the opening of Trump’s Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City was mismanaged, how he led a life of yachts and personal jets (i.e. conspicuous consumption and overspending), and how the small business owners who supplied the goods and services to the Taj Mahal got stiffed when Trump went bankrupt. (Apparently, none of the other casinos in Atlantic City went bankrupt during that time.)

Which makes me wonder, if Trump becomes president, will small business owners get stiffed while Trump continues to live the celebrity lifestyle?

I also wonder if Hillary will be a better candidate? Wall Street sure likes her, and so do those in the elite circles, I hear … Which doesn’t mean it’s a good thing for average, working Americans.

And what about the financial collapse that’s rumored to occur in the next year or two? What are we to make of these strange events? What’s a sane person to do?

There’s no question America is between a rock and a hard place—a situation I found myself in several years ago. So what did I do to resolve my situation? I simply connected with my higher self so I could follow my inner guidance during those strange, precarious times to work on my higher purpose—the one my soul came here to fulfill at this time of great turbulence and change. And following that path gave me a perspective that made all the difference.

Of course it’s a good idea to keep informed, to raise your awareness about what’s going on in your country and in the world. But at the same time, be careful not to get too caught up in these distractions so your own higher purpose suffers. My contribution at this time is to help people learn how to reconnect with their higher self and strengthen that relationship so they are guided directly by the Divine within … so that they fulfill their unique contribution, their higher purpose and their life transforms.

That’s why you won’t see me writing a whole lot about solar flares, crop circles, alien sightings, the financial markets or politics. Although important, they can be a distraction sometimes. They’re not relevant to reconnecting with your higher self and following your inner guidance. (Although they may be relevant to you, if your higher purpose is to contribute to those topics.)

Each and every one of us has a specific, unique gift that we are to share with the world and sharing that gift should be our priority. Neither you nor I can do much about solar flares or where the markets go in the next year. But you can fulfill your own higher purpose.

Remember that only your higher self knows what your purpose is, and you learn your higher purpose by strengthening your relationship with your higher self (your connection with the Divine) and following through with your inner guidance promptly and consistently.

So … use your time wisely by working on your contribution as much as possible, by following through with your inner guidance as well as working on the projects that call to you. Otherwise, you’ll take longer to fulfill your higher purpose than you need to. Remember, your contribution will most likely be about something you’re passionate about, something your soul is calling you to do.

Yes, I needed to hear all this myself, too … as I’ve been working on a project that’s been taking a long time to complete as well.

Why have the positive changes that many have been wanting for so long been taking such a long time? Because of inertia and the systems that are in place. It takes an effort to change. But we do so one step, one day at a time. Sometimes we’re forced to make changes and sometimes we’re pro-active. But if we connect with the Divine within and follow our inner guidance we’ll have an easier, gentler path.

What the world needs now is you as an individual reconnecting to your higher self. Then from that place of inner power, you make choices about what you want to participate in, whether you want to read some material or belong to some group—or not. When your individual inner guidance system is strengthened, you can make your choices based on your direct connection with the Divine, rather than on conventional systems.

So don’t get too distracted with what’s going on in the world. Take the events in, and then do what spirit is calling you to do. Focus on your own higher purpose and your own family and community. And from that place you’ll make a difference in your own life and in the lives of those around you.
