Church Converts Bus Into Mobile Clothing Pantry, Delivers Winter Gear To Folks In Need

When temperatures plunged below freezing, this church took to the streets in a mobile clothing pantry to provide warm gloves, hats, and other winter gear to individuals in need.

Enough insulation is vital when you’re homeless and living on the streets. It can determine a life and death situation. Usually, shelters offer people hospitality during the harsh winters at night as well even though daytimes can be very difficult to surpass.

However, a church in Buffalo, New York converted a bus into a mobile clothing pantry and is being utilized to drive around and hand out things to the less fortunate.

True Bethel Baptist Church actually already has a warehouse in which the less fortunate can come and collect warm clothing to wear. Because the conditions have worsened, the church’s mission is to bring gloves, hats, and much more winter gear to those who need it in the streets.

According to WIVB, the church was in the process of making the bus into a pantry however, the weather conditions made it possible sooner.

Many parishioners of the church made it possible to stock the bus with necessary utensils and then the pastor and his helpers decided to roam around the streets in Buffalo. They helped those who looked like they needed help and offered them warm gloves and hats.

Allegedly, the same church is planning to provide $200,000 in clothes for the winter.

Said Pridgen:

“I challenge people and encourage them, because that’s what I’m going to do… keep some extra gloves, some extra hats (for) when you see seniors and you see children out. God would just have us to be the angel and not wait on an organization.”
