Can Psychedelic Spiritual Plants Save the World?

Conventional thinking in relation to psychedelics is very one dimensional regarding the actual empowering benefits they have to offer. Most tend to think of “tripping” and seeing weird things, degrading it to what could absolutely be labeled a childish pass time, rather than a meaningful enlightening experience.

But the truth is, psychedelics are rooted in ancient traditions that predate Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and various other religions.

An award winning investigative reporter named Amber Lyons recently traveled across the globe to engage in some of these traditions and believes that the way to solve the worlds problems is through the respectful union that the ancients within cultures all around the world did once before (and continue in many parts to still do today).

Amber was inspired to take this journey after a discussion with the multi-talented Joe Rogan, who himself explained that psilocybin mushrooms helped to change his entire life around, and was a paradigm shifting moment for him.

Lyons was the victim of PTSD and anxiety, which she was desperate to overcome and this is what ultimately led her down this path.

First she used Ayahuscha in Peru, which she described as follows;

“My field of vision became engulfed with fierce colors and geometric patterns.  Almost instantly, I saw a vision of a brick wall.  The word ‘anxiety’ was spray painted in large letters on the wall.  ‘You must heal your anxiety,’ the medicine whispered.  I entered a dream-like state where traumatic memories were finally dislodged from my subconscious… The experience was akin to ten years of therapy in one eight-hour ayahuasca session.”

Next on the list was psilocybin mushrooms, which she recalled as follows;

“I cried through the night and with each tear a small part of my trauma trickled down my cheek and dissolved onto the forest floor, freeing me from its toxic energy.” In fact, she recounts that “The psilocybin was the key to unlock the trauma…”

This led the award winning journalist to proclaim that “We can transform the course of humanity by collectively purging our grief and healing at the individual level, with the help of psychedelic medicines.  Once we collectively heal at the individual level, we will see dramatic positive transformation in society as a whole.”

Lyons and Rogan are not the first, however, to propose psychedelics as a solution to problems that face the individual and the collective mind. Terrence McKenna decades ago preached his views on how psychedelics could not only change the world for the better, but that they were key in helping our ancient ancestors evolve today.

So for those of you who have not had a psychedelic experience, you may be asking yourself “how can this be possible?”, “what can be expected and is this just some ‘new age’ nonsense?”

Well, as stated before this is certainly not a “new age” concept. Psychedelics have been used for thousands and thousands of years in rituals around the planet, also as medicines to heal many ailments, particularly psychological ones. The ancient took this practice very serious because to them, it was communicating with a higher real, something most people who have done these rituals in a mature manner, would vouch for.

So how can it be possible??

First of all, psychedelics help us to confront our personal traumas and view them in a different light. They help us to overcome them. Once we heal individually, as Lyons noted, then it is much easier to create better relationships and a better society at large. Furthermore, the world is under a collective hypnosis. Consumerism, materialism, organized religion, popular culture and a host of other controlling ideologies have taken over the minds of the people.

To try to reason with others, even when you are thinking clearly and are well balanced within, and make them see things from a disillusioned perspective is sometimes literally impossible. Psychedelics, on the other hand, forces people to experience disillusionment first hand. The plants have a way of forcing us to see the world from a different detached perspective, one that has not been conditioned by the system. It’s as if we are seeing the world for the first time.

It should be made very clear though, that this can be extremely difficult. Confronting inner demons is not easy. Confronting the outer ones (the structure of society) is no easy task either. So if you are interested in giving it a go, please do your research. I don’t believe everyone is ready for the experience.
