According to the statement, Baltimore police “failed to establish probable cause for Mr. Gray’s arrest” and “illegally arrested” him.

Findings from a medical exam of Gray’s body established that he died as a result of injuries suffered in the back of a police van. He was placed in the van after being found with a pocket knife, however he was not restrained with a seat belt and therefore was thrown around the van as it moved through the city.

According to local news reports, “sources briefed on the findings of a police report said Gray apparently broke his neck when he slammed into the back of the van — and noted that a head injury Gray sustained matches a bolt in the back of the transport vehicle.”

Some have speculated that Gray was the victim of a ‘Nickle Ride’ which, according to The Free Thought Project, is:

A horrific police torture tactic where a suspect is handcuffed and placed in the back of a police van without restraints, and driven recklessly around town by police officers. This practice has also been called a “Rough Ride” or a “Cowboy Ride.”

Only time will tell if justice will truly be served for the unnecessary death of Freddie Gray at the hands of Baltimore police.

I say, we need to keep marching even if the cops get convicted. We need to march for unity, march for the police chief to resign, march for absolutely anything that can get people out in the streets uniting, getting their blood flowing. We’re going to have to stand up against tyranny constantly in the future; we might as well get used to it now. We are making history; lets motivate each other and refuse to stop marching.
