This song, penned by the conscious rap group Flobots, is about a group of southern women (and one in particular named Anne Braden) who fought for equality in the deeply racist south in the sixties. They faced a lot of adversity, as you’ll hear in this song, and they fought through it all to create, as Anne says, ‘ a new world’.
