Stephen Cook: Merry Christmas to all – and what Christmas Angels you have been!

The heart-filled response of generosity to The Hope Chest Christmas Appeal 2013 over the past 12 days of Christmas has provided an incredible burst of the energy of love and light to so many at this special time.

To those who donated, your kindness and caring for your fellow man, woman and child at this often-stressful season for many in need has been received with great appreciation. On behalf of The Hope Chest team, Thank You for allowing and giving us the ability to assist so many as the festive season comes into full swing and 2014 beckons.

Here’s just three notes of love and gratitude from people you have helped this year:

Hi all at The Hope Chest

Thank you so very much, I am incredibly grateful for this help, it has come at the most perfect time. I have now found someone to share the house so from next week on my rent will be reduced to half and this gracious gift from Hope Chest will go towards rent and food this week.

I just cannot thank you enough.

And this one:

I am very greatful (sic) to you and the organisation, and my time will also come that I can help others to survive.

With this money, I can live again together with my wife and children, who are currently away now for a couple of months because lack of money.

They went to live with the parents about 700 km away, there they have all they need. Now we will be reunited again.

I just wanted to write to you and thank all of you doing this important work, and to thank all those who donate to The Hope Chest.

I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and water therapy eliminates the need for any kind of painkillers. My insurance stopped paying for the therapy visits. Buying a membership was the only way I could continue.

Thanks to the funds I received from The Hope Chest I have received enough money to pay for several months membership at a local health spa so that I can continue my water therapy.

Now I don’t have to worry for a while about finding the money to pay for my therapy.

Meanwhile, the President of The Hope Chest, Casey Plummer, has this quick update on the status of The Hope Chest’s Tax Exemption Application:

“Just a quick update on The Hope Chest and its application for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. We filed in August of 2013, the initial application and a couple of tax returns. They sent us a letter in October asking for additional information about one of the yearly tax returns, to which we responded. No word back on the approval of the application, and we are still waiting. The IRS indicates that this process may take up to 6 months, and that looks to be the case here.”
